Many siblings tell us they enjoy playing games and doing activities with their disabled brothers and sisters. Sometimes you have to think creatively as a sibling to make games work when your brother or sister has a learning disability or a physical disability. Lots of siblings do computer games together but it’s good to have some other ideas for things to do.

Some games you can play with your brother or sister

1

Noisy games – clapping to a song together, playing tag, making funny noises at each other, hide and seek with toys.

2

Quiet games – hand shadows on the wall, drawing pictures together on paper or on an iPad, blowing bubbles, lying on the grass watching clouds move.

3

Ball games – skittles with plastic bottles and a newspaper ball, make newspaper snowballs and throw them, roll a ball between you, play Frisbee.

4

Share your favourite games with other siblings on YoungSibs chat and tell us how you have changed a game to make it easier to play.

My brother likes reading stories with me on my tablet. We take it in turns to swipe the pages.
